Bio

TOINÉ...A SOULFUL TASTE OF HIP-HOP

Femcee/Lyricist | Spoken Word Artist | Model | Actress | Author, Engineer......"I Be....limitless, on purpose."

WHO IS TOINÉ HOUSTON?

"Houston" is a name which has dominated the music industry for an extraordinary number of years. Chicago native, Antoinette Houston, a.k.a. Toiné (/ Tow – Na /), is an American Entertainment Artist who is rapidly changing the game for female MCs in the Hip-Hop Soul arena. Toiné offers a variety of talents in addition to rapping, ranging from lyrical storytelling and writing to performance art. Rather than adhering to the pressures a lot of women in the music industry face, Toiné speaks from her experience and wisdom, not superficial glitz and glam. Affectionately known as "Young Flame" in the spoken word community, as a result of her constant efforts to spark/ignite emotion from her audiences, Toiné is now using this same spark as a gifted, lyrical wordsmith & hip-hop x soul entertainer.

Toiné's music and poetry have afforded her opportunities to be featured on and across a variety of TV and Streaming platforms, such as Netflix, NBC, TVOne, PBS and WCIU. From having her single “I Remember” featured on Netflix x Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It” Season 2 to personally being featured on the Steve Harvey Show and TVOne’s “Verses and Flow live”, Toiné continues to make her mark in the entertainment industry, one lyric at a time, capturing crowds with her “straight from the hip” delivery. The TVOne Network even nicknamed her, “the Jay-Z of poetry”, after choosing her for her own commercial for the “My Black is Beautiful” Proctor/Gamble campaign! With two albums under her belt, Toiné continues to bring a soulfully eclectic mix of Neo Soul, Hip-Hop and House Music, providing listeners a musical journey like none other. Toiné has had several of her singles featured on Chicago’s top R&B and Soul Stations - 106.3, V103 and WKKC. By incorporating the soul of hip hop with her raw poetic imprints/experiences, Toiné aims to spark feelings in the minds and hearts of her listeners. Her new album, "I Be" (released summer of 2019) perfectly captures Toiné’s embodiment of candor and the freedom of standing in your truth unapologetically, whether it be one’s relationship with self, or one’s relationship with another!...and to cap it all off - Toiné will be conducting her first UK Tour in October 2019!

Starting her career as a performance artist as a member of All Hype City, a unique film, theater, sketch comedy and improv production company based out of Chicago, Toiné has shared the screen with seasoned actors such as: Lawrence Fishburne, Delroy Lindo, Shia Labeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Jennifer Beals, Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, as she’s worked on Contagion, Chicago Code, Transformers 3 & Empire respectively. Off stage, Antoinette is a leader in the STEM space, currently serving as a Sr. Lead User Experience Engineering Manager for the State of California, as well as being a motivational speaker (working with CW Consulting Group) and a published author of User Experience Research/Design and Data Analytics content. Toiné is also founder of A-n-H D’Zigns, a multifaceted Web/Graphic Design company.

Musical Artist, Engineer, Spoken Word Artist, Model, Author, Motivational Speaker, Actress, Entrepreneur and Founder......Toiné is truly a Jane of many trades, though writing and performing for/to a vast range of audiences (breaking age and color lines) make her unique in her own right.
